CNN —Courtney Love has a new radio show about women in music, but she is not much of a fan of several of the biggest female artists of our time. But some contemporary artists, including Taylor Swift, are not to Love’s liking. “Taylor is not important,” Love said of Swift. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”Love used to be an admirer of Lana Del Rey’s music but that changed. “I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off.” Love said.

In 1916, the composer Gustav Holst took a young conductor, Adrian Boult, on a long walk through Kew Gardens and Richmond Park in London. A few years earlier, Boult had written to Holst asking whether he had composed any music for small orchestra that he could perform. Few were better equipped than they were to introduce Boult to the score; as rehearsal pianists, amanuenses, copyists and performers, the two would be intimately involved in the creation of “The Planets,” one of the most popular orchestral pieces of the 20th century. Documents from Lasker’s archive at the Royal College of Music in London show that this way of introducing “The Planets” to other artists wasn’t so unusual in its genesis. In an introduction to the piece given by Lasker on BBC radio in 1951, she said, “We had the great joy of introducing the work to all the great conductors in this country, and, after the war, to many of the great continental conductors.”

The royal household is exempt from freedom of information laws in the UK since it isn't a public authority. Hay suggested that the monarchy should follow the lead of major companies that have been transparent when a CEO becomes unwell. While Kensington Palace was clear that it wouldn't provide a "running commentary" on the princess' well-being, that didn't stop conspiracy theories on her whereabouts. Meanwhile, CNN said it was reviewing all Kensington Palace handouts in light of the incident. Kensington Palace did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Tuesday that he was “shocked and sad” to learn that King Charles III has cancer, but is relieved that the illness was caught early. Buckingham Palace announced Monday evening that the king has begun outpatient treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer. Kate is still taking a break from royal duties as she recovers. Charles took the throne intending to preside over a slimmer monarchy with fewer senior royals carrying out ceremonial public duties. William and Charles' wife Queen Camilla are both expected to take on extra public engagements during the king's treatment.

On Monday night, Buckingham Palace made a sudden announcement that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer, less than 18 months after beginning his reign. What do we know about the king’s diagnosis? Buckingham Palace said on Monday night that “a form of cancer” had been diagnosed, but did not state what kind, and asked that reporters not try to contact those involved in Charles’s care. The palace said that doctors had identified “an issue of concern” while treating Charles, 75, last month for an enlarged prostate. They confirmed cancer — though not prostate cancer — with subsequent tests.

Sinn Féin won the most seats in the elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly last year. Post-Brexit trade rules imposed customs checks on goods moving to Northern Ireland from the UK’s mainland. A deal known as the Northern Ireland Protocol was agreed to allow Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, to remain within the EU market so that it could trade goods freely across its land border with the Republic of Ireland, an EU member state. Unionists in Northern Ireland, like the DUP, are in favor of remaining in the United Kingdom, whereas nationalists, like Sinn Féin, are in favor of the unification of Northern Ireland with the Republic of Ireland. “The people of Northern Ireland are best served by a power-sharing government in Stormont as outlined in the Good Friday Agreement.

CNN —Hollywood star Emma Stone has responded to criticism of the graphic sex scenes in her latest film, “Poor Things,” telling the BBC that sex is a crucial part of her character’s storyline. Sex plays an important role in the film as one way Bella learns to understand her body, and how others covet it.
